M17x R2 question

Yeah we got them to agree to an i7920xm and dual HD 5870's

and to sky we had a manager contact the "higher ups" as he called them to look into a brand new system or an actual good system with everything included that was promised but its just sad that they tried to pass off this trashy machine as a "never pre owned refurbished system"

 

I'm glad that they are trying to offer you a better resolution. Genco is the one to blame on this one. Dell should regulate them better. Keep us posted on whatever you do.

Update: they will not give me the i7 and dual graphic card and display upgrade anymore, they are expecting us to give back the alienware, and in return they want to give us a basic xps 17 as a replacement for my m1730, this will take a long time before this is resolved...

 

Wow!!! That's ridiculous!!! I'd get them to send you the parts you need and replace them myself before downgrading to a xps 17.

 

only way i can get the parts is if i buy them which is ridiculous, they will not just send me free even though promised.

 

What is their reason for not honoring what was promised?

In the future I would get an email confirming what is promised before you get off the phone.

 

Now that is a major downgrade. Fire them upside down and demand a refund. That is probably the only solution. They have ill treated you a lot although you paid 4k+ for that system.

 

Get your money back, buddy and buy yourself a new system, you don't deserve to be treated like that. It's equal, better system or refund!

 

tried refund and their response is that its been 21 days since we purchased the system and they have not given us a reason yet to why they are not honoring the upgrade but we are now waiting a phone call back from some high up dude to get an m18x brand new or a 17xr2 brand new with everything in it

Try to get the m18x if possible. An i7 2920xm + dual 6970m is really a killer combo.

A tip: If possible, try to get a red one. Red anodized aluminium glitters like diamonds and pearls, simply fantastic.

 

update: got a phone call from the escelation team head and he tried to say that the original specs i gave you guys was far better than what I have and i explained to him how it is not and how we were promised dual graphics cards and an i7 920xm and he told me that he will do what he can to get me a better system and call back monday. lets hope this is where it will all end and i will recieve my proper replacement.

 

Monday.......that's ridiculous. An Alienware tech can get an approval to do a replacement/exchange/upgrade while you are on the phone.....keep us posted.

 

MWHAHAHHAAH...You are right US ALIENWARE owners like to stay in our BIG corner. We have too much fun over here with all the EXTRA performance you guys are lacking.

To the OP...Glad you got bumped up in specs and have a proper laptop coming. This is not the end of it and there is more to come for you. I am guessing they are giving you a REFURB since they no longer manufacture m17x r2 NEW. Either way make sure the replacement you are getting is 100% functional without any sort of physical defects or damage.

Get your warranty extended to as far out as you can afford. If you have issues Dell will replace it for you with another item. Once they are unable to replace your laptop they will offer you a comparable replacement which would be m18x. I would make sure you get that warranty extended out and you should have an AWESOME laptop for 4 more years to come

 

as an update there has been many issues with dell, refusing to give us the upgrade they promised and blah blah blah but now im waiting for a call back on monday to get a good system, ill update you guys on exactly what im getting once i finalize it with dell

Update: Never got a call back, so we called dell ourselves yet again and we talked to our first female agent. she asked us what we wanted in the system instead of trying to figure out themsleves, she talked to the higher ups, they didnt have a used, so she got them to give us a brand new with dual graphics cards and an extreme cpu. so this means im getting an m18x most likely. 30 minutes and this is done all thanks to the one female that works at dell

I dont know how many ladies work there, but I went round and round getting my M1730 replaced and it was a female rep that took care of me.

 

Well I am facing bsically the same issue as the OP. I have been promised an R2-NEW. Didn't think they made those anymore. Hoping for the best.

I advise you though to get it in red instead of black. Red anodized aluminium has an absolutely stunning beauty. Its very personal though, you may like the black better depending on your personal preference.
