Okay I know i've read about this somewhere on the forums but can't find it and since i remembered reading about it. Did who ever had the problem find out what was causing it. Was it for the M17x r2 with 5870 crossfire or not. I'm having the same problem so far i've tested crysis and metro 2033.

So far ive only heard about (and experienced) this on the M17XR1. On that system it is caused by clock modulation dropping to 12.5% when power consumption is too high (programmed into the BIOS). I am currently pushing for a M17XR2 replacement and based on the specs in your SIG you don't have the Extreme CPU which i would be getting so this worries me. Have you done any kind of overclocking?

i see that you have a ssd installed. Do you have the intel storage drivers installed? if so, you need to uninstall it immediately.

Throttling can happen to any Dell laptop that uses a high performance GPU and an inadequate power supply or a poorly designed bios. No matter what Dell you buy, if you are having instant slow downs to low single digit frame rates, I'd start by running ThrottleStop in monitoring mode and create a log file so it can monitor for the most widely used types of throttling that Dell uses.

Upload your log file somewhere like mediafire or sendspace and post a link here so I can have a look. -

here it is I was playing crysis when i tested it -
Don't see any drop in modulation...

The CPU looks like it is running like it is supposed to be. Try running another log file using the GPU-Z program. Maybe it will show the GPU dropping back to the 2D clocks or something like that while gaming.

ran crysis again twice is gpu-z supposed to give constant updates cause it seems to be skipping time -
okay so i checked the gpus using hwinfo32 while playing a game and the master gpu never changes could that be causing the game to not work properly -

I had this issue in Crysis with the first Dell Beta video driver. Since the new driver (8.763) and vbios combo it's a non-issue. looks like one of your gpu's is in an idle state.
