Hi all, I'm looking to getting a new screen assembly for my M17x R2. I've found this item on ebay
Dell Alienware M17X R2 WUXGA Glossy LED LCD Screen J2CY8 LTN170CT08-D01 570 | eBay
I'm wondering whether this is a RGB display? How can I tell the difference?
I'm not too fussed about the scratch and I can't seem to find any others which are in better condition anyway. All the others are from the same guy, but with more scratches. Thanks in advance!

Hello, Angster, the screen you linked to is indeed one of the two RGB LED panels (judging by what the seller listed).
FYI, here are the screen part numbers for the M17x & M17x R2:
- Dual CCFL panel 1440*900 (900p) - U519K€170BT - SEC5442
- Dual CCFL panel 1920*1200 (1200p) - R610K€170CT - DELL G517T
- RGB panel 1920*1200 (1200p) - K1NFP€170CT - first RGB version - SEC5443 - DELL 0CWMH
- RGB panel 1920*1200 (1200p) - J2CY8€170CT - second RGB version, TrueLife display - SEC5443 - DELL 0CWMH -
I have part no R610K for my RGB LED (as reported by HWinfo). That led to this eBay listing: New Dell Alienware M17x 17" WUXGA LED LCD Panel R610K | eBay
Way more expensive than the one in the OP, I wonder what the difference is between the two? -

So better or worse than RGB LED?

I'll let you read this thread:

Except the part with 'distinct red tint'. It doesn't apply to all panels and it disappears after calibration. -
Wow. Looks like I'm gonna have to see about getting a new(er) LCD after I replace the GPU.

Thanks for that. Do you know of any other suppliers outside of ebay that would be selling the J2CY8 screen? That seems to be the best one. I did buy one recently, but it was just the LCD screen, not the assembly. Turns out it was a lot harder than I thought to replace the screen as it appears to be glued on really well and I'm afraid to damage the cover assembly.
So I figured I'll just buy a complete assembly (don't care about the cover I can change that easily) just to be safe as I couldn't find a very comprehensive guide that shows how to replace the LCD screen only. -
