    Heyy

Im thinking of buying a RGB screen and fitting it, is it a straight swap or will i need different cables to connect the screen?

    Cheers

The whole assembly is a straight fit, there was one on e.bay a few days ago, idk if it's still up.
If you're planning on changing just the LCD that's another story.

The 900P screen is awful, it's way to dim, has poor viewing angles & has washed out colours. The rgb led screen is beautiful and has fantastic backlighting. The screen usually goes for 699.99USD on ebay and 1100.00USD + from Dell.

It's an awful hassle to do it. You have to find a screen with the exact Samsung part number - not an Equivalent Part Number. 95% of the dealers out there will sell you a compatible part number. Ask first before buying. It is it not Exact, the screen will not work.

Also, the data cable is different - and it's a real hassle to find those. Additionally, the RGB and regular 1200p LCD screens used in the M17x are a really obscure Samsung model so most dealers won't even sell compatible part numbers.

It's a huge pain in the butt and I would not recommend doing it having gone through it myself.

And then there's the problem where the old screen in your laptops is literally glued to the plexiglass window and encased in magnesium. So you have to take a dremmell tool, and cut away the magnesium, and then literally rip out the old screen completely destroying it and probably scratching the inside of the plastic plexiglass cover. Then you can install the new screen assuming its compatible.

Not fun. Your best bet is to find a RGB screen assembly on ebay and buy that. It's would just be a case of replacing the entire screen assembly of the laptop.
