    Hi there,

So i've been searching through dell's website and this forum but couldn't find a solution so I post my thread here with a hope that somebody will be able to help :(

Everything has been working fine since I bought the M17-R2 from Dell. The problem occurred last 2 weeks when I flashed the BIOS to A10 (the official one on dell website) because of the plugin power problem (sometimes it doesn't charge when you unplug and plugin again the AC Adapter). This problem fixed.

However, I encountered another problem that my laptop stalls everytime I shut it down. Meant that when I click shutdown, it turns to "windows shutting down" then the black screen appears and the keyboard light is still on. Then it just hangs around there forever until I hold down the power button.

Called Dell and tried to flash it back to A09 and A08 Bios version, also check and update to the new driver for the CCC. The problem still persists.

If anyone here encountered this problem before please help, really appreciate it!

    Thanks a lot

    anyone can help please?

up again for someone can help :(

Hello, npploveyou, have you tried a simple power drain:
-unplug the power cord and system battery
-take off the back cover (two screws)
    -unplug the CMOS coincell battery
-press the power button for ~30 seconds
-put everything back and see if the problem persists.

    What are your system specs?

    Hi guys,

Thanks for all of the help. I actually did both of your mothods by updating my VBIOS first, then updated my BIOS to A10 and took off the CMOS battery, did power holding for 10secs and restart. It stalls once when starting up but after I did a hard restart, it went smoothly. Tested it several times by shutting down and restarting, it went smoothly and the problem seems to be gone away.

However, this is a critical thing, after the above problem is solved, it appears to be more:
    - The buttons on the keyboard panel (eject, previous, play, forward, volumn +/-, wireless ... ) not working anymore.

    - The LAN slot for ethernet still has the lights on, but it does not work. Meant that there is just the wifi works on my laptop, the cable doesn't seem to work.

    - Check the device manager, and here is the thing, there are a lot of misconfiguration here and drivers errors that i've never had before.

I think the A10 BIOS has caused these drivers to not working correctly. And it also is my fault to update the wrong drivers on the Dell's website.

Please recommend me which drivers should I update from the Dell's website since I don't want to mess up this drivers page again.

Thanks a lot for all of your help

Sorry, I've been busy with my cousin and her new XPS 15. Soooo, looks like the driver files got all screwy. I agree with Luis, download your driver files for the wifi card and LAN adapter just in case. But I KNOW WHAT"S ALL THAT UNKNOWN STUFF! It's your Bluetooth adapter going all crazy. You need to uninstall all those devices with the exclamation warning icon on them, and when you uninstall the box will pop up asking you to confirm, make sure you check the box that reads "Delete the driver software for this device", if it's available. Then go into Programs and Features and uninstall any Bluetooth, Broadcom BT or anything of the sort that shows up in the programs list. Finally, reboot into safe mode and run Ccleaner to remove any trace of the old bluetooth drivers (optional). Now you can reboot and reinstall the bluetooth drivers and see if that fixes the driver and ethernet problem. See, Bluetooth runs a virtual ethernet port, which if malfunctioning can interfer with your actual ethernet port.
As for the media buttons: that can only have two causes: OSD or the ribbon cable. If you haven't disconnected the ribbon cable (in taking apart your m17x), then it's most likely a problem with the OSD program...whether it hasn't started or has become corrupt for some reason. You can try an uninstall/reinstall and see if that fixes it.
