Hello, I have an M17x R2 with Crossfire HD 5870m GPUs, 6GB RAM, and an i7 Q 820 Processor. With that out of the way, two days ago, and between 12:00 AM - 6:00 AM yesterday my computer was running perfectly. I was playing Skyrim at 40-60 FPS (big range but a productive range at least), I could play Star Wars: The Old Republic at 100+ FPS on average, basically everything was going well. However, upon trying to play Skyrim at around 2 AM this morning, I found my FPS has suddenly dropped to a maximum of 15 FPS on the exact same settings. Now on SW:TOR I'm only get maximum of 21 FPS. This isn't the only problem however, at least from my observation, which could be bias based on the situation. I've noticed my fan activity isn't as high, and that there's a lot of delay and decrease in overall performance on my system, like CCleaner taking longer to clear out the recycle bin and temporary files, AVG scan running longer, even unzipping and extracting files seems like it's gotten worse. I ran diagnostics for about an hour and it said my CPU was running fine, I've uninstalled my GPU drivers and re-installed them to no avail.

I really can't explain what happened. The only other things I can tell you are what I did between these times on my computer.

    1. I installed the new windows updates (Most of which are uninstalled now from a system restore)

    2. I installed Python 27 for a program I use. (now also uninstalled along with Python 26)

    3. Browsed the internet as I normally do.

These are really the only things I did during those times, unless there's some oddity where putting my computer in sleep mode caused a problem. As for malware being the suspect, I don't have any tasks or high CPU usage, if anything my CPU is has an extreme lack of activity, I've also ran MalwareBytes, AVG, and Spybot S&D, all of which came up with no malware found. If anybody could help me with this situation I'd be grateful, because at the moment my system is out of commission in terms of gaming.

It's also sometime happen on my laptop, and the fix is to restart the laptop, after the restart usually it will return to normal. If it doesnt, shut down and leave it a while.

Thy, are you still experiencing these issues or was it only temporary?

Sorry for the delay in response, surprisingly shutting it down for about an hour has brought it back to normal conditions from what I can see, so I'm calling it temporary and resolved. It seems I may just have to treat this thing better in the end.
