How to figure out if the received one is RGB or CCFL?

Received one? so you already bought it? The RGB's RED are really red, the edges don't emit a white glow. I've noticed this on m15x WLEDs.

There is a thread here i don't remember which(or you can google your serial and should be able to find something) that has all the serials for each type of screen.
The dual CCFL 1920x1200 is a great screen and not as bad as people describe it here compared to the RGB. -

Dell just sent me the replacement LCD.
Is it possible to know if its RGB or CCFL from the model no?

I just got my R2 with 900p screen last week. My first impression is that the screen can be dark. It's hard to explain but it seems as though the CCFL's are being dimmed when not being used to show bright images. For example my desktop background is generally dark, if I look at the shortcuts or bring up the context menu on the desktop they too will look dark and faded. If however I open a window with a bright background and expand it to fill most of the screen then the shortcuts and menus look fine.
At first I though it might be part of the alien fusion (power control), something designed to dim the screen when not showing bright images to 1. save power 2. save the CCFL bulbs 3. less light bleed when showing dark screens. I suppose that all this is true and so far is hasn't been a huge issue, it's just a little odd when after working on something bright on the screen if I go back to the desktop everything looks faded. I tried turning off all the "dimming" options I could find and it didn't appear to help.
I'm coming from an Inspiron 1520 and also have my brothers 2008 Macbook pro, the 1520 has a 1440x900 CCFL LCD and the Macbook at 1440x900 LED LCD. There's no comparison between the LED and either of the CCFL's, the LED on the Mac book pro is way better. The screen on the Inspiron screen doesn't have the same issue, I've never noticed it get significantly darker when closing a bright window, however that said when playing games they look better on the m17x then the Inspiron, probably due to the improved hardware and the glossy coating on the screen.
Like the OP i didn't really have a choice on my screen type as Dell Canada was not offering anything other then the 900p screen when I placed the order but had I known that it would take 35 days to get to me and that the R3's would come back out a week or 2 before I even got my R2 I might have just waited for the R3.
Bottom line is that so far the brightness thing is the only issue I've had with the 900p screen (i don't know if the same problem exists with the other screens) and so far it's really just been an annoyance more than anything else. I have done some gaming on it and it doesn't seem to be a real issue so far in the games I've played. I can see it possibly being an issue with watching movies though, if you have a dark scene with a small brighter image, the bright portion may look dull and faded.
anyways that's my experience with it so far. -

I actually prefer the 1440 resolution for gaming. It makes it easier for the PC to run games in the screens native resolution with higher detail settings etc. Thats just my personal opinion though.
