    Hi peeps,

Just installed my 680M on my R2 :D and ran 3DMARK11

    SCORE P5710
    GRAPHICS SCORE 5878
    PHYSICS SCORE 5695
    COMBINED SCORE 4723

The GPU is running on 79°C max while was playing FarCry3 on ultra settings.
GPU fan stuck at 2500rpm.

Are those good scores with 680M and 920XM?
Should i repaste the thermal compound as I read someone had only 72°C max?
Is there any way to get the fan back on auto without using hwinfo? mod inf maybe?

    Thanks peeps! :D

680m with any XM cpus would cause the fans to be stuck at 2500rpm. they are however, automatic with the QM series. Just download and set up your fans through hwinfo32, no other way around it as of now.

should I keep hwinfo running to get the fan control working?

It seems like the fans go back to 2500rpm everytime I close it.

you can always set it up automatically through Task Scheduler. Do take note though that even after starting up hwinfo32, you need to click on the little fan icon next to reset min/max and then set your gpu/cpu fan on custom auto.Feel free to minimize hwinfo32 and leave it on so as you are done with the settings. For some weird reason, every time i open up hwinfo32, i would also need to make sure to click on that fan icon next to reset min/max in order for the fans to kick in, otherwise they would just be stuck at 2500rpm. Might be different on your end or i might have missed some settings. Everything otherwise runs fine and i have been issue free for close to 2 months now.

And i see you are also from melbourne, which part exactly are you from?

I also need to do the same thing to get the settings kick in. Clicking the fan icon and then it would do the trick. Hopefully there would be a new way to get it on auto soon.
Would you get another one to work on the SLI? :p

Are you also from melbourne? i stay around southeast suburb :D

Not entirely sure if SLI would work on the R2 or not because apparently the old HyperSLi patch which worked in the 580m's case would not work. Even so, with the combined power draw from 2 680ms and one 920/40xm card would definitely be throttled by our stock 240watt power brick, which therefore means investment for a 330w brick.

And yeap, i'm from melbourne as well, staying in the city near RMIT's city campus

HyperSLi won't work?? I thought the only problem is the PSU.

Anyway I saw your thread getting the 680M overclocked. Someone replied with the link here but it is now gone. Was it worth doing? Too scared I might brick the whole thing.

But since you are also in melbourne then I guess I know who I should run to if I had a problem :p

Well i might be wrong, but the last time i checked, HyperSLI didnt work whilst a 330watt mod was already made for R2

There are only specific models that will brick with specific vbios and fortunately the R2 is safe from bricking so as long as you flash it properly. As for the high clocks @1050/2400, I would only resort to such high clocks for either benchmarking or games with intense gpu usage. Even so, the temperatures never exceeds 87 degree after prolonged usage. Otherwise, I would be fairly comfortable with either my current stock clock @ 919/2250 which gives out at most 77 degrees( for intensive gpu) or 980/2400 for a maximum of 84 degree.

Do take note that my temperatures are affected by the ambient temperatures and might be lower when it gets cold
