The head line basically says it all.

I try to get a 2560x1080 resolution to work via HDMI...theoretically it should work...but haven't figured it out yet.
The displayport should easily solve that problem of a supposedly max 1920x1080 resolution (monitor max resolution is 2560x1080)
    Problem: Displayport is not working.

    Dell Card
    Bios: BR44618.001
Plug'n'Play installation, fantastic M17x R2 life extender upgrade

    Wanted to try a 4k Monitor...decided to go for a 21:9 Monitor.

I remember this being an issue back when I had my r2. I don't remember though if they ever got something working to get around it or not. Hopefully someone else will have some more knowledge for you.

    My problem is solved:

Usually HDMI is limited to 165 MHz pixel clock unless the video driver is patched. For a 2560x1080 Resolution a 181MHz Pixel clock is needed.
There is a patch called "pixel clock patcher" for ATI/AMD and NVidia, which fixed that limitation.
My HDMI connection recognizes and provides the full resolution now, BUT the patch breaks HDCP support/video acceleration.
