    Hey there,

just realized... the available graphic-options in dells online-store (at least in europe) reads "460M with Optimus Technology" and "580M"...

while in the us-store theres "460M" and "580M" (no sign of optimus at all).

so whats going? just a typo or missing description?! i mean you´re not telling me dell forgot to enable optimus with the 580M...are you?!

    regards

without optimus...that's a big plus to me...

according to me, optimus = nightmare. it's always switch your Nvidia video card to integrated video card when you playing games...

So will the 580m be manual switching or no switching at all?

hm. lets hope dell remebers this chart where it says "M17 - Optimus - Yes" ^^

isn´t it a chip on the mainboard?! which controls the switching between different gpu´s? i mean if it only were the drivers...why does no asus clevo or whatever-notebook with nivdia 460m or higher have optimus!?

BIOS restriction maybe, I don't know these models. But it's certainly not the 580m that doesn't support it.

So should be doable with the M17x R3 then since the actual laptop supports it?

I don't see what the deal is with Optimus anyways? Nearly every thread regarding Optimus has more complaints rather than positive feedback. I'm glad that I only have one GPU to work with.
