    Hello all!

Was just thinking the other day about upgrading to the i7 2960xm. Does anyone know if it is compatable with the M17x R3?

If so is it as straight forward as taking the out the old processor and sticking the new in (not forgetting to re-paste it) and boot it up?

    Feel free to discuss too!

    Thanks

    Jordan

Hey. The same as you the 2860QM, I know there isn't really alot between the two, but I'd always fancied an extreme, but it wasn't an option Dell gave out :-( .

Nice to hear it is compatable. Is it straight forward though? Like, take out old one, insert new one, add thermal paste and boot up?

dude the only difference is something like it is unlocked for OC'ing too much, ask widezu, if you are not benching don't buy it save the money for 28nm GPUs

I will be buying the 580m at some point anyway LOL. I have expensive taste unfortunetly. I do agree there isn't many differences, but I was going to have a go at light overclocking anyway.

enjoy man! definitely give 580m a try if you want, I don't think 680m will be out very soon, and 580m is THE graphics card :)
