I just wiped the hdd and did a fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04 on my M17xR3. I am trying to figure out how to do 2 things:

    1. Disable my 6990m. It drains battery and clearly i'm not going to be gaming on linux. I want to run off integrated graphics only. I have the newest modded BIOS and I know how to disable integrated graphics, but not the physical card.

    2. Disable the LED backlight on the keyboard. Again it's draining battery and I find it unnecessary. I'm not sure how to do this on linux without the Alienfx app.

Hmm, I got the pyAlienFX app installed and it shows up in my applications, but when I attempt to launch it I just see a loading circle for a few seconds and then nothing comes up.
