    Hey guys,

I have an interesting issue with my R3. I seem to get the Windows pop up 'Not enough memory, please close the program to...etc.." error whenever i'm playing a single game and not doing anything else.

For example, i've been playing FF14 for a few months, and consistently get this error even though it's the only real program running.

This error happens same if i'm playing newly released Guild Wars 2.

If i run Chrome or Firefox simultaneously, the error will pop up again and again.

My system is from March 2012, with the following specs:
    i7 2670QM
    4GB 1600MHZ, DDR3
Intel SSD/Seagate HDD not in Raid
    6990m with latest drivers

Did a clean wipe and reinstall of windows and drivers when i first got the computer. Was running great playing other games i.e. ME3, KoA, etc..until FF14 and GW2 started. I can't imagine 4gb not being able to run a single game without issues.

Speaking of 6990m, getting lock ups and crashes/BSOD with latest ATI drivers (12.7)...wondering should i be worried about hardware issues (BSOD when uninstalling old drivers, and installation of new drivers as well). I'm not overclocking the GPU at this point.

thanks for your help guys, hope to hear from someone who may be experiencing or has experienced the issues above and can provide some guidance (before moving to TS from Dell...).

With the random BSOD's as well maybe you do have a memory hardware problem. Have you tried the HW diags? - the first thing AW support will ask you to do :). You will have the option for a 'deep' memory test. I assume the full 4 GB shows up in your system information?

F12 at the BIOS screen and select diagnostics or reinstall Alien Autopsy. HTH

Edit: Corrected 'F' key - Thanks Luis!

4GB ram is scarcely enough for a gaming machine these days. I'd push that to 8GB to see if that changes things. Games WILL use 2GB of system ram or more, especially if they're DX10 or DX11 based.

It's actually F12 then diagnostics. :) You will need to run the extended memory test and if you get any error please send an e-mail to our tech support dept. [email protected] with your tag, phone and a brief description of the issue. Also you should consider getting some more RAM for that baby. :)

Thanks everyone for the reply; I will try some of the suggestions.

Any feedback on why uninstalling or installing the ATI drivers and CCC would cause bsod?

Improper installation is my top guess

So I ran diags and ext. memory test and everything appears to be normal. Maybe the fact of the matter is, I do need more ram!

Did have a few recoverable crashes with Guild Wars 2 last night, I think stemming mainly from bad driver or driver installation...

Yeah 4gb is a little on the low side. Upgrading to 8gb should be quite cheap. I went for 16gb as sort of a "future-proof"
