I just recently installed a SSD drive and after doing a fresh Windows install and reloading all of the drivers I've come across a problem. I noticed that certain buttons don't work anymore.

I can no longer use FN+F7 to switch graphics. I can still right click the desktop and do it from there.

I can't use the dvd eject button. It just doesn't work at all in windows. If I leave a dvd in the slot and reboot the system and the system tries to boot off of it, I can use the eject button there, but not when logged into Windows. I can only eject from Windows Explorer. It seems the volume buttons and wifi button work fine.

Also, I'm not sure if this is a problem or not, but I can only adjust the brightness using the shortcut keys if I'm using the Intel power saving graphics. If I'm using 6990m, i can't use those buttons.

    Any suggestions?

I used the black Alienware windows 7 64 bit dvd to reinstall windows and used drivers off of Dells website.

    This is the R3 model.

    Thanks!

    Hello and welcome to NBR.

    You have to install OSD.
    Here's the link:
    M17x R3 - OSD Application

Thanks for the welcome and quick reply. I did install the OSD driver as per this guide ( *GUIDE* Upgrading to an SSD - Alienware Arena Forums )

Can I reinstall the same driver over top of the existing one to try to fix it, or should I delete it, reboot then reinstall.

i'd just uninstall it under the windows uninstaller panel and then run ccleaner. After that just run the installer for the thing and you should be good to go. :)

Sorry for reviving a dead thread, but I am having similar issues to the OP. I'm not sure how recent this issue has been happening, but I cannot eject a disk using the eject button. I have to go into windows explorer and right click on the disk drive and press eject. I've tried the above fix and it hasn't resolved my issue.

Problem solved. I had to uninstall Daemon Tools.
