    Hi all

    I just installed Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

I went with the upgrade path ... should have done a fresh install ...

I'm starting a Windows 8 Drivers thread just to make sure we get the best experience ...

    Nvidia GTX 580 : NVIDIA DRIVERS 306.97WHQL
BigFoot Networks Killer Wireless 1103 : Killer Gaming :: Support :: Driver Downloads

    I need the following :

Synaptics TouchPad (Multi-touch) windows 8 drivers), not the scrybe crap ...
Bluetooth (Broadcom Drivers) ( Bluetooth Software Download | Broadcom)

Please post links to our hardware windows 8 drivers ... we need that multi-touch trackpad running ASAP otherwise Windows 8 sucks ...

ATM I have 2 unknown devices in Device Manager ...

    What is our chipset ?

my 2 unknown devices ended up being dell webcam central and the ST Microelectronics free fall sensor
Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]
I used the synaptic driver in the M17xR3 downloads and you can turn on multi touch in synaptics application
i also used the most up to date chipset on the dell site also and have no problems. Killer wireless card i went to bigfoots website and downloaded the windows 8 driver

I am a little confused about windows 8 so please help me out a bit.
When i go to support.dell.com and then go to m17x r3 drivers, the only operating system displayed is win 7 64 bit. Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

When i try the same thing for m17x r4, win 7 and 8 are both displayed in the drop down menu. Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

Am i doing something wrong or is there no support for windows 8 on m17x r3?

If there are no official drivers for the r3 and i still want to upgrade to windows 8 , how should i go about it? How to get the chipset drivers, wifi drivers, webcam , bt drivers etc etc?

Officially Dell doesn't support the M17xR3 with Windows 8, however I've read of guys in who have installed it and had no issues with these drivers if you want to give it a shot at your own risk. For more info check out this thread.

How about we make up a list of updated drivers from parts manufacturers instead of drivers from Dell ... Dell is and always be outdated...

    We need the following :

    Chipset
    SATA/RAID
    Video
    Webcam
    Bluetooth
    Wifi
    Lan
    OSD
    Command Center

    Anything else?

A lot of the windows 7 drivers work perfectly fine with windows 8 as well, Not sure why you guys are going nuts over it. As to the OSD and Command Center, they are already optimized for windows 8 and have been for some time now. ;)
