After experiencing some performance issue with my 6970m. I did some extensive tests today.
    And I found my problem:
From the reading in GPU-Z, sometimes the GPU core clock is topped at 300mhz.
I have to either restart the computer or reboot the GPU(switching to integrated then switch back). Does anyone else have this problem? Any thoughts?

A clean re-installation of ATI driver did not resolve this issue.

I have the exact same issue. If I am on integrated and plug the computer back in, I need to restart in order for the card to go back to 680/900. Wasn't really too concerned about it as my HP Envy 14 did the exact same thing, except if you unplugged it while on dedicated. Just seems to be a quirk.

Hmm... interesting. Mine doesnt involve switching gfx card tho. This is a driver issue?

I understand that as a problem, but could one just possibly download trixx overclock tool and set the card back to default clocks instead of rebooting the pc? I overclock my gpu for games and don't have this issue as I don't switch much to igp.

If you read the link i provided, it really doesnt involve switching gfx card. Its stuck at 2D clock forever. This could randomly happen even if u play a hardware accelerated video (VLC 1080p etc). And other people have different ATI cards still have this annoying problem.

I had the same issue yesterday. It's very easy to fix though, I just used trixx and moved the clocks slightly then applied and it was all back to normal.

Be sure that PowerPlay is enabled in CCC and set to Maximize Performance when plugged in. Does the R3 include Stealth Mode?

PowerPlay is enabled all the time. R3 has no Stealth Mode.

I had an issue where my FPS dropped significantly. At first I thought I was stuck on the IGP but it turned out that it was an issue with powerplay. I turned it off and then back on and my FPS went back to where they should have been.

It seems to be same issue that I have. Use GPU-Z to check your GPU core clock to see if it get stuck at 300mhz. Memory is stuck at 900mhz.
    They dun change until reboot.

Is thr any particular game or any specific thing which causes this problem? Or it's random and we need to reboot it often?

I have no issues with rebooting mine when it will come juz want to check with others if they managed to find out more details abt this issue.

Im idling at 58c at (100Mhz/150Mhz @0.90v) I think my temps are a little bit high considering at those low clocks.

I dun think its caused by a particular game. And reboot solves the problem exactly. That leads me to think its a driver issue. Its possibly related to hardware accelerated videos. After playing a youtube vid in firefox 4 etc.

I've always hated the way ATI drivers handle clock speeds. A reboot fixes the problem up until the next time it happens.

Like I posted earlier, I had the same issue with my Envy 14. If you unplugged it while it was in standby it wouldn't switch back to the proper clock speeds, had to restart the computer.

There the switch was automatic instead of pressing fn+f7 like on the M17x.
