I am looking for a spare AC adapter for my R3.
The adapter that came with my laptop is 19.5V at 12.3 amps.
I have found one (for free) with 19.5V at 10.8 amps.

Do you think this would suffice for my laptop with a workload?

The M17x R3 has some kind of adapter sensing, only an exact match will work, as in even the same brand. If you got Delta you need another Delta of the exact same type.

If you plug in an unsupported adapter it will say so and then refuse to use it.

Even model isn't perfect. I tried a Flextronics PA-9E and my M17x wouldn't use it. Had to get a Delta just like what shipped with it.

Mine did ship with a Delta. Where do you see the error message?

I have a spare Dell adapter from a M6500 with the specs I listed and it seemed to work fine. It booted up with no issues and seemed to power it just fine while running furmark and prime95 at the same time. I ran it for 10 minutes and the brick didn't seem to be overly warm at all.

Tomorrow I am going to use a Kill-a-watt to measure what it is pulling from the wall with my regular adapter and see if the 210 watt adapter will have enough juice.

I got the error message both from the bios and as a popup in Windows.

Anyway, if your adapter works you are all set.
