    No idea , waiting too.
I tried poking them over chat , they won't say.
Guess they are trying to empty their 460M stock.

According to notebookcheck the 560m is only 13% better than the 460m. Its rated right under the 480m. Not as good as the 6970m or 485m.
    485m is #1 gpu card
    6970m is #2

You should hope they get the 485m.

Why are yall hoping for the 560m? Wouldnt you rather have the 485m??

The 560m is only slightly better than the 460m.

If yall are skeptical, this will make yall happy. Ont the Nvidia website under the GTX 560m it says what laptops it will be offered with and has the Alienware m17x and m18x on the list. No release dates but just that it will be offered with those along with some others, i.e. asus, toshiba

that would totally be horrible!!! but it make sense considering that it be after all the Back to school/summer sales.......still making the AMD 6970m looking like a better choice!

The 560M is not a big deal to delay that much and 3 competitors ( MSI , Asus and Sager) have it already in stock or soon.

485m would be nice but I dont see the 2 highest card options being both Nvidia. All about Nvidia and wish i had the 485m but Alienware has a deal with both AMD and Nvidia so they have to balance the options out.

No I've ordered my m17x with the GTX460m (non-3D). I've also been talking to Reps and getting an answer that the GPU is upgradable, im seeing when they do offer new GPUs if tech support will let me upgrade. My guess is when Nvidia updates its 5xxm series with the 580m dell is going to offer this lineup:

    GTX 560m (low end GPU)
    AMD 6970m (mid grade GPU)
    GTX 580m (highest grade GPU)

but dont expect the 560m till end of summer once all the deals for summer are over, i dont think they will give yu a nice deal for new stuff. expect September release. Honestly the 460m or 6970m are both great gpus, only would care about the 560m if i could get it cheap or if i really wanted a more stable 3d (Gtx460 non 3d = gtx 560m with 3d) Only want to upgrade with either the 580m or if support for the 485m is released!

guys seriously - one of the confusing things about nvidia is their name system, although the 560m sounds like a huge step up IT IS NOT - it equates to a slightly overclocked 460m, the huge step up is not the 580m either it is a slightly overclocked 480m and is no big cheese, the huge step up is the 485m and it is massive 2x a 460m and near enough 2x every other nvidia gpu avalable in the mobile market

i'm not saying Dell will not adopt the 560m, I'm saying it is not an upgrade from the 460m, they may do it as the 460m may not be available soon, strategically they should have replaced the 460m with the 580m - that would have been a step in the right direction and so what if people no longer want ATI that is their choice, right now we are not being given the choice which is rediculous

Does the 560m support 3d? Doesn't this mean 3d users are pretty much going to be ignored?

by not adopting the 580m enabling 3D then yes that would be correct, 3D can be enabled with the 580m just as easy as the 460m or the 560m but they choose not to do it because of some sort of flawed marketing strategy or agreement with ATI I would guess so 3D users are being shafted by Dell

Oh I know that's not what you were saying. I'm referring to opinions of people around these forums that the 560m may not ever be offered since it's such a slight upgrade. What I'm wondering is whether Dell or any other company can actually commit to include a GPU in their systems, as the article I posted states and then back out of it later on in favor of another card.

From comments that the 560M is available in systems through reps in the UK, it looks like the rollout is finally here.

With the press releases from both Nvidia and Dell stating the Alienware systems would have the 560M, it certainly wouldn't have been good press if they never offered it in the systems at all. Even if they offered it as an upgrade from the 560M, that would have been something. Looks like they just had a lot of 460M stock to move, possibly all the 460Ms Nvidia had left, since other 460M systems from other Notebook manufacturers were replaced with 560Ms weeks ago.

You can customize it by adding the 3D panel and the 580M on the customize page for the standard laptop.

Why would someone ever get a 560m?

6970m is cheaper and is 2x the performance...

Some people may need the features only offered by an Nvidia GPU, without the excess of a 570M or 580M.

6970M is not 2x the performance of a 560M at all, either.
