    Hello world!

I recently bought an alienaware M17X R3 (less than a week ago) and I am unsure if I want to keep it.. I will be using it both for work and games but the glare is insanely terrible.

Is there anyone that has had the same problem and come up with any kind of solution?

I've read some places that there are screen protectors that could help and there are anti glare screens you could put in front of it... but then I also read some where that none of those things will work because there is a plastic sheet covering the screen which is causing most of the glare!

Has anyone here even removed that sheet? I have to DSR it by Monday if I dont want to keep and and I really do love everything else about it beside the glare....

    Thanks for all your help!

You are going to have to live with the glare. No solution to it at all. I absolutely hate it too. It causes an immense eye strain too.

I can't :( the glare is so bad in the office I literally cant see through it. It makes the whole point buying a mobile laptop a waste. So if I can't find a solution I will be returning it I guess =(

Just buy a matte screen protector, should solve your problem.

^ For sake sake of $20, I'd try it, but I wouldn't expect much. If it removes enough of the glare to be useable, it's going to ruin the screen's colour reproduction.

You could return it, and look at a Sager/Clevo offering. Plenty of their laptops can be fitted with a 580M, and a matte 19x10 panel. The one drawback with those though (aside from looking the Alienware look) is that they don't support Optimus, so you're probably looking at about two hours battery, at most.
