    M17x R3 Help

    7 beeps, motherboard trouble or cpu cache fault,?
    removed gpu card, works fine no beeps or black screen, put back in 7 beeps black screen!
    replaced gpu with new one same fault, fitting new mb, still beeps with gpu in, so last resort new cpu, put one in, and guess what , yes 7 beeps on start up and black screen.any help i cant figure this out,.
    only get the 7 beeps when gpu card is in. costin me a fortune.
    thx in advance for any advice
    cpu is 2.2 sandy and gpu is 670m nvidia, also tried a 460m as well.

    Yep, I got 7 beeps as well a long time ago. I am pretty sure it is some type of mobo issue. If you have a warranty, call Dell and have them bring in technician to your door. Watch what they are doing however, as I have heard that some are a bit clumsy.

    Can't agree more with that, the gpu has been troubleshooted enough already; next possible cause will be motherboard. If you are in warranty we should cover it, just send us an email to: [email protected] Make sure you add your contact info and service tag to the email. :)

    It could also be the CPU slot on the motherboard...but like Rev said, 7 beeps refers to CPU

    I agree...WTH? You can probably call them and get a system exchange. If you hard enough you can push 'em into swapping your r3 out with an r4.

    Did you get the parts from Dell? All Dell parts come with a 90-day warranty. Can't say the same if you got them from someplace else. I'd call Dell and have them send out a new processor since the one they sold you isn't working...if that's who you got it from.
