The battery is a bit loose hanging down a few millimeters near the right speaker when elevated. The one I had previous to this one had this issue as well. Anybody else have this issue?
-
I have the same issue as do more than a few people on these forums I think. Mine however, is not as bad as yours I believe. I have not visibly looked at how far mine hangs down but I can definitely push it in further which should not be the case. Your best bet is to call tech support and see what they can do to resolve the issue or just deal with it if it's not to bothersome.

My fault I meant millimeters. I'd say it pops out about the size of 2-3 stacked business cards so maybe 4-5 millimeters.
-
Oh, well mine is about the same then. I have not cared much about it anyhow. Usually I am OCD about these kinds of things but I believe a repair/replacement(doubt they would offer one for this) is not worth the effort or risk of ending up with more problems.
-
Yep you got that right. So far this is my only cosmetic complaint that seems like it would be unusual.
Also with the little strip that runs below the keyboard, if you put pressure on it a bit does it click for you? It clicks for me around the windows and alt keys. It's loose though, right? -
If that's what I think it is, I had that too. Try pushing it down harder, that panel has clips that secure it and it might not be clipped in all the way so all that is needed is to click it in properly.
-
Same here, fell off about 4-5 mms. Waiting for replacement though as Dell identified this as an issue.
-
Nope it just creaks and makes a clicking noise, it won't budge any further. If I am feeling up for it I may disassemble it enough to where I can just put it back and see if putting it together a 2nd time will fix it.
Sorry to say but I doubt the new one will be any better. The one I had before this had the same issue and Jas71 has the same issue as well. -
I think maybe one of those clips is broken on your keyboard panel. Opening it up and checking would be a good idea.

You know of a vid or guide showing how to do this? I tried it before with my first M17x and the plastic bent a little near the left and right sides where it is the thinnest.
-
will see probably next week ;-)

Dell already changed battery and chassis on mine, it is better but still far from perfection.
-
mine is wobbly in its slot......... its quite annoying, but hearing how terrible AW service has been, i'll pass for now.

Here you go, this is to access the RAM modules but you still have to remove the keyboard panel. YouTube - Alienware M17X R3 Swapping RAM - Easy guide on changing RAM on the M17X R3‏
