M17x R3 Now available for configuration! The moment we all been waiting for! http://www.alienware.com/Landings/laptops_m17x.aspx
EDIT: Something went wrong again. http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-M17x-r3/pd.aspx
-
Call me crazy, but I don't see it.
-
Maybe a few more hours, and this would be functional. :S
-
i swear i was gunna lose my mind but dell is really tryin to make me lose it !!
-
Atleast the page on the site is back! Now, The only thing they need to do is enable the configuring section! It has the same issue with the M17x R2's page now.
-
dammit dell i've waited so long
-
lets just cross our fingers and hope for it to release today .. HOPEFULLY
-
But I was looking at that page for the past 3 hours because of the rumors that it would be available on tuesday, And it activated this 12:30am. So that's a good start.
-
heard about them n did the same but u caught it first
well we'll hav to keep on waiting a little more
-
-
Strange that they would even allow the page to be up when it is all messed up. The specs seem to be from the R2 (weight, size of the machine). You'd think a multi-bil corporation can at least get the website correct since that's not Intel SB related.
Oh well, waiting too -
what time has ordering gone online in the past for dell?
-
-
My friends father(i am a teen) works at dell.
I asked him and he said that it will be back on the 3rd of march(he sounded pretty much sure)
-
-
Might be worth noting: The sales guy who emailed me a few days ago said that he works 8AM-5PM CST in his little automatic email signature.
Maybe they'll be working when sales goes up, in 45 minutes? -
I wonder how many sales they get though.. I can't imagine anyone blindly buying an Alienware at those prices and I can't imagine they are expecting hundreds (or even double digit sales) when 80% of the US is still sleeping or is heading to work / school. -
Anyway, this is good news for me; hopefully release will coincide with official availability of 6970 (non engineering sample)
-
No, I pre-ordered elsewhere...then got an alternate (much better) quote from a reseller that murks the forums here. I'm pretty sure the mxm-upgrade 6970's are ES because authorized AMD partner/dealers do not have stock yet.
mxm-upgrade wants like 430 USD, which is great, but the shipping would be murder. -
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
The MXM-upgrade one's are samples, it states they are right on their web site. Hey if you wouldn't mind will you PM me some info on the cards/prices? It would be much appreciated.
-
Any updates on when you are going to get it?
-
I am to get an email the day stock becomes available to the company, which is an authorized AMD dealer/partner/whatever. I'll probably have it sent to another province to avoid paying 13% HST (tax), then have mother-in-law mail to me.
-
Dell has completely removed the M17x from everywhere.
This thread needs renamed M17x no longer available...Attached Files:
-
-
I talked to a rep at dell, he is confident it will appear on the site today. There is no reason to remove the M17X for 4-5 days, that's just bad business right there.
-
Any retail stores that might carry this? I sorta need one in about 5 days. Well, not need, but I really want to get this upgrade over with. heh
-
Theres a thread somewhere with a website you can actually buy an R3, not Dell's. I cant find it now. (darn u search) If someone knows where that is can you repost it here, it would make the title true and maybe help Lord Pall.
-
But still, I can't find the 6970's available at this site.
-
Doh. -
Even the M17X classic is gone from the site right now.
-
There is no doubt the M17X R3 is going back on today. Not sure why people have doubt. Why would the M17X classic be gone from the site if they were not updating the M17X pages?
-
03/01/2011 11:06:56AM Agent (Shiela M): "We received a temporary release date as 3/1/2011, but it seems that the laptop is not yet on line, so we cant guarantee that it will be today"
Dont know if thats good or bad :-/ -
I got an email from a Dell rep that I spoke on the phone to, and I got this:
"Basically we keep an eye out on it.
RESOLUTION:
We have been advised by internal resources that the M17X are being “estimated” to be back online potentially within next couple of business days. " -
I'm sorry for all the trouble creating this thread guys. I got to excited because they put back the r3's on the site a while ago, but still we can't configure it. :S I hope it will be fixed on the next hours.
-
Dissapointed here. Any news of 6970 should it be available on re-release?
-
It would be sick if it were to come out today, because they removed the M17X completely off their site, and its totally bad for business to remove it, and keep a hole there for 4-5 days. If they were going to release it say by Friday, they'd remove the m17x FRIDAY, not today (Tuesday).
-
It just looked poorly done. -
Well, I wouldn't say it is bad for business to take the R2 down, but they should at least put up something that says "coming soon" instead of just....nothing. Heck, if they really wanted to be magical, they could put up a countdown to build anticipation.
And I'm not even in marketing! -
Looks to me like there's enough anticipation without doing anything. Free marketing.
-
Pretty sure everyone patiently waiting has had this planned for quite a while. -
Personally, I see this as both good and bad news.
The good news is, the m17x should be available for new orders pretty soon, which means I'll finally be getting my R3.
The bad news is no one at Dellienware talks to each other, so they can't tell me anything, and they keep pushing my EDD back a week at a time, taunting me.
At this point, I'm almost ready to cancel my order and go with an m15x, except I really want an SB. Mmmm. An SB in an m15x... >_> -
A couple of questions guys, other than from the Dell website, there is no other reseller for customized alienware?
Is the warranty international or not?
how much do you think it will cost with a 6970? -
It's not available so there's no way to know the price. However, Eurocom charges $175US to upgrade from their 5870m.

I dont think it's a bad business move by Dell to remove m17x for 4-5 days, i think its the opposite. it's a smart move by Dell. They would rather not having m17x order for a few days than dealing with the return and losing money(return shipping label, etc) after the m17x r3 being released.
I'm pretty sure not everyONE aware of the upcoming m17x r3, some would still purchase the m17x r2, just because it's the alienware m17x. But after they purchased it and realized the new m17x is released the next day, I bet some kids will rage about it and try to get an exchange or whatever and that's a hassle for Dell.
Edit: Dell also doesn't need to do the countdown, they know that we are waiting for it. And they know that all of our anger right now will be completely gone as soon as the r3 is up online.
p.s the aurora r3 is up, so the m17x should be up soon too. -
Its a bad move IMO because the regular consumer see's that AW doesnt offer a 17" laptop and will simply go to the next site on their list.
-
-
....damn, i TOTALLY shoulda waited for the r3 rather than buying an R2...
this sucks!
-
I wont say most AW buyers, since we're a little special, but many mainstream will not see it on the website and think there isn't one. Outside of this forum, I haven't seen any advertisements for AW, let alone specifically a 17" model.
Its a basic business rule, most people wont buy what they don't know about...
They should put a coming soon placeholder. At least not leave it looking like crap.
This is the wrong thread for this conversation. Need to take it here.

I'm sorry to hear that 3demons, but you can always return it and buy the r3 as long as your r2 is still in the 21 days return period. If you return it and immediately buy a new system from them, then you will not be charged a restocking fee..
