I have the new R3 with Sandy Bridge 2630 and 460m and appear to be getting subpar frames in games. For example SC2 1v1 at 1080p and High Settings is in the 40's. The new Dragon Age 2 demo at 1080p on high was in the low 20's high teens. Maybe I'm expecting too much outta the 460m in this case or do you think the stock drivers it shipped with just suck? Or maybe some other GPU setting I'm overlooking?

Stealth mode by accident?
-
there is no stealth on r3
Optimus or no? -
3d package so no optimus i believe.
-
Run 3dmark 06 and use 14k as a baseline to compare to my r3s.
-
Kune, what were your OC 460 results ?
-
My 3dMark 06 came out to 12773......over 1000 points off of yours.
-
Something not set right in your nvidia control panel. Same thing happened to me. Go into the control panel and hit default for everything. Retest.
-
Ok. Restored defaults and reran 3dmark 06 and got 14113 as my score. Gonna rerun some games and let you know. Btw restoring defaults disables 3d. Not that I planned to use much anyways.
-
default score was around 14k, never ran with it OC'd

Someone posted some relatively impressive OC #s for the r3 460...
Found it, credit johnnobts:
Anyone else with the 460m want to post their results?
Using 3DMark 2006:
Mine at stock was around 14400.
Overclocking 817/1634/1309 I get 16682 -
Ok. Performance jumped in the Dragon Age 2 Demo. Under directx9 settings at 1080p i was constantly in the 60's. DX11 settings 1080p i was the in low 30's and mid to high 20's. I read that the DX11 settings however aren't optimized and will be for the retail release. Either way.... performance clearly improved after restoring nvidia control panel to default. Thanks Dr. J.

I'm impressed with the R3. If/when it ever gets the 6970, with some overclocking, it will be a beast for a single GPU configuration.
-
Not sure if you've found a solution yet, but... did you by any chance unplug the laptop while gaming? That might be why you're getting crappy performance (downvolt/downclock or watever laptops do when it's running on battery mode). IMO though, 40fps in sc2 is great on high, but I'm not sure about other games. I get avg 15fps on my dino desktop on low
-
When Stereoscopic 3D is enabled the GPU takes a hit regardless if the 3D mode is on or not...Best to tick off when not in use.
-
Result here's a 3dm06 ran on my g73 with everything stock and default windows (no clean install) with all regular programs running.
-
See below.
Basically identical but with same cpu/gpu no suprise. thanx for posting this. -
Got a chance to retest sc2 as well after changes in control panel. Up in the 70's and even low 80's with nothing much going on. Wonder what was screwed up in that control panel.

The one thing that is off is usually the first panel in the control panel where it has the options: "Let the 3D app decide..." "Use custom settings..." Etc. For some reason mine set itself to custom and it should be on the "Let the app decide" option.
-
This is very interesting. So if it's "Let the app decide," is it generally better quality/maxed out settings?
Also, is SC2 better in dx10 or dx11 mode (if it's possible to choose one)?
