No EDD yet he will provide that today maybe. Otherwise when I click the order everything is correct under items purchased. Is there another way to check specs? Thanks

there should be a pulldown tab that says "whats included in my order", that will tell you whats being installed in your replacement. thats how i saw they were installiing hte wrong processer. i just cant cut a break hahah

Mine wasnt under there either. I have the 4 years advance plan myself...thank god i have it haha. Anyhow its not under your new one because the replacement R3 is going to have a different Service Tag. You will have to call and have them or atleast make sure that the warranty transfers over to your new R3's Service Tag from your old one. I had the same question until Dell explained it to me.

Well I assume with NBD it will take around 10-14 days, especially since the M17x R3s have a faster ship time than before (like 3 weeks compared to almost 4).

Well the rep that did my replacement order said that when it goes to the factory for building that the replacements get queued before first time buyers. Roughly 8-10 business days i was told. How accurate and true that is, is unknown, but hopefully it gets built as fast as when i first ordered it. It took 8 straight days from time of order until delivered and that was with 7 day shipping.

Wow I see. I haven't gotten an EDD yet. But 8 days, how is that possible??? What's funny is that I had 7 day shipping but it took 1 day to get here, as it started out in Chicago and ended up in Chicago. How long has it been now for the replacement?

Its been about a week. My replacement order got put in last thurs night. So hoping for next week. We'll see though. then when I get it I have to call ALienware and have them send out a tech to put in the right processor. Pretty stupid if you ask me!

I see. You said it went in production on Saturday? Then Maybe you will get it Monday or Tuesday. But yes, I think it is pretty stupid that they need to replace the CPU, and it is surprising that they made that mistake.

YEa tell me about it. I never knew how Alienware was before they were bought by Dell but apparently it was alot better. Dell is horrible. I've never seen a compnay this horrid, but as long as they are trying to fix the problem I cant complain too much. Mon or tues would be nice!

One note on the cpu swap, I'm getting some better thermo heat paste, the MX-4 and gonna put it on the new processor and then the GPU so its better on dispensing heat.

Yeah Dell needs to lose out on some money to get better service. I hope you do get it ASAP though!

Yes I plan to be doing that as well. I have all my things with me other than the thermal pads. I will be using MX-4 as well, but I am not sure which pads. Fujipoly has Xr-m pads that are supposed to be 14watt thermal conductivity instead of 6watt sold on frozencpu, but I called and emailed and they do not respond.

I dont think you need pads do you? I thought it was the paste itself. You just apply that and it absorbs the heat.

Well my replcement order went in production last friday and it shipped this morning. Should be getting it either tomorrow or monday! Im shocked at how fast they got it built. Its coming from Edison, NJ too, so I guess theres a factory up there. Thought it was just the one in Texas.

Too bad I have to have them come out and change the processor since they put the wrong one in the replacement....

The cpu is easy to swap on the r3 I believe. You dont have to remove the keyboard an all that like on the r2 and m18x.

    Nice!

That makes it 7 days in production! That means I should get my system next Thursday or Friday I'd say.

Pads are not needed but they help as they are better than the stock pads they replace.

Yea it shipped already. Suppose to get it monday because its standard overnight shipping but i called dell and the guy i talked to was really helpful and called FedEx for me to have them change it to saturday delivery. Told me that they sent a message to the recieving FedEx store to deliver it tomorrow so hopefully that goes thorugh. Then the guy took my case for the prpcessor swap and said he would call me mon to see if i got my laptop and to dispatch someone for in home service to swap out the processer.

All i can say is, i wish everyone at dell was like this guy. He was extremely helpful and by far the best rep i talked to out of this whole ordeal.

Given your replacement has shipped, you can follow up in this thread if you have any further issues with dealing with dell over the replacement. We have a thread on this and replacement threads are now being redirected to it. Too many of these lately and this sub-forum is active enough with other threads.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...placement-systems-warranty-repair-issues.html

    Thanks.
