So after having the M17x R3 for over a week its been all good except for on restarts.

Windows exits and closes down, instead of a quick reboot in 30 secs as you would expect..there is only a black screen with an _ in the top left corner lasting 2-3 mins before system boots (in 30 secs).

Spoke to an alienware techi and basically stated to try 3 things out to see if it is the image of system causing issues.

    1)Set bios to default settings
    2)Use alienware respawn
    3) Press f12 on boot to see some kind of system report and write down errors codes that might appear.

My fear is this is going to turn into me asking for another replacement.
[This was supposed to be a replacement for my m15xr3...paid £591 for extra upgrades]

Any advice on rights to ask for another replacement?

Will update on how things go.

That seems to be a software or OS issue. Had a few of them with my first (sold) R3 and a Respawn cured it. Hoping the same for you.....

Having undertaken the 3 tasks and after finishing the final and third task that the techi spoke to me about no errors were reported on the diagnostic report.

With the techi on the phone I expalined that to him and he then asked if it could reboot from safe mode...all restarted perfectly...

I then said the only thinng different seemed to be my mouse wasnt actually plugged in on the reboot / boot, so i tried booting and rebooting with the mouse plugged in and it took 2-3 mins to boot.

Turns out if you have the mouse plugged into the lappy when you boot / reboot it causes this problem.

An iPod causes the same thing when already plugged before turning the system on.
