Good read and I agree with the reviewer, the options available on the website should offer just a wee bit more flavor. If anyone's going to drop that kind of coin, they should have as many choices their dollar will offer!

Been looking for this review every day for almost 2 months (February and March). It's so late though now because most people have already bought their systems. Would've been nice if it was much earlier like notebookcheck or laptopmag. Nonetheless, I really like their reviews!

What 460m/2630 was faster then a 6970m/2720 in that review ?.

Looking over the benchmarks i could not see anything of the sort .

Like every benchmark they showed the 460/2630 was faster than the 6970/2720.
Which is a bunch of bologna. Unless the AW had bad drivers or some other fluke...

I cant find one gaming benchmark that shows the 460 is better ?.

That is what i was looking at lol..

Guess they were running the machine on battery when it came time for the Futuremark stuff.

It is a shame they did not have the upgraded 120hz-3D screen for review/comparison purposes.

Are you guys above confusing the 6870 with the 6970 in the benchmarks? The 6970 was better in every benchmark over the 460...

It was the 3dmark stuff that was borked not the gaming benchmarks.

I was thinking the same thing as you were till i skipped over to the synthetic benchmark page.

That review is full of crap in the benchmark sections. How can the Clevo, with the same processor and video card be above the Alienware? In some games it was 10FPS ahead! Either they aren't setting up the computers correctly or their review is a sham.

Clearly different drivers from what i gather.

I ran the stock drivers vs 11.5b and 11.6 and saw a massive difference in FPS in some games so yeah its gotta be the drivers they were using on each machine.

But since they/he loves the machine i guess it does not matter ;).

Yea, i would have to say drivers are the reason for the discrepancy. The reference drivers are much better than the Dell 6970m drivers.

I kinda figured that one, but since he makes no mention of it, it looks like this computer just sucks compared to the Clevo. If you don't know much about drivers/computers and you see that the Clevo does better in almost every category, wouldn't you rather go out and get a Clevo?

Honestly the average consumer would not know who Clevo is so i doubt it really matters to average Joe who only wants a name brand no matter what they read kinda like Macbooks etc.

If your a savvy computer geek or even semi savvy you will read the specs of both machines and put 2+2 together to realize it must be a driver issue or they were running things in power saver mode.

I have owned Clevos and while they are decent they are no Alienware thats for sure, plus with Dells next day at home service(and financing) vs mail in(Clevo wait a week or 2) i doubt again people would be swayed towards Clevo.

It might make people investigate Clevo though but they will be swayed right back to Dell probably 8 or 9/10 because of features and support.

The one thing the new Clevo machines dont have and maybe not everyone cares about is IGP support for battery life and think that is a HUGE bonus plus things like HDMI in again not a must have necessary thing but still pretty slick.

Not sure what was going on over and Anand's when they ran those benchmarks but oh well cant win em all :).
