What 256GB SSD comes with the M17x R3 if you buy it with the laptop through the alienware/dell website?
-
One not worth getting.
-
Usually a lower end Samsung (SATA 3 usually) and its definitively not work getting. Get an aftermarket one like a crucial m4 and you will get set.

its a sammy pm830, just got mine today. this thing is smokin!
im sure their are better but so far i'm really happy. just booted into windows in a flat 16 secs...wow. also not sure if the deal is still going (it was yesterday) but they were offering the upgrade to the 256ssd for only 150usd! i payed 400 when i built my sys... owell.
-
Hey when did you order your machine btw?? I think there is a delay on the units with the GTX580M, anyone else confirm.. ALSO the 830 is actually good unit.
-
I hope you are right, i just ordered mine on the 23rd -
I ordered mine on the 18th and got it today. When I go into device manager and look at the hard drive it says its an 830.
-
i ordered mine on black friday and recieved it on dec 3. mine has the sammy 810. plenty fast but there are faster for cheaper.
-
Who told you they got delayed and why? -
Yes, they are Samsung 830 SATA-III and they're a good SSD. The Alienware configuration page needs to be updated to reflect what is actually shipping with new systems now. It is misleading because it still reads SATA-II 3GB/s, which is not the case with the 830. The 256GB SSD is on sale for 60% off (at least in the USA) for a limited time.
The M18x is coming with them also. See this post... http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...oubleshooting-discussions-21.html#post8191323
This is good news, because the "one not worth getting" comment was true for a long time. -
