    HI all,

Been a while since i was here last and posted but have been reading the different topics in spare time though.

I seem to have recently been experiencing a problem with my switchable graphics AMD Radeon HD 6900M. I cant switch from the graphics card to the standard and also I cant right lick desktop and select 'Graphic Properties' or 'Configure Switchable Graphics' as neither option responds.

Iv only noticed this issue in the past week.

Should i just re-download and install the AMD driver or do i need to do more than this?

Can someone upload / give me a link to the stock driver for 6970 please. The one im trying at moment Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States] is producing error message saying my system spec dont meet the requirements..even though this is the driver from the dell page for M17x R3. Am i trying to install the right one?

Im having a really weird issue of when uninstalling both drivers, windows seems to automatically install one/both again.

Try [Fn]+[F7] to switch graphics. It may have switched to integrated graphics and now as the discrete is not enabled it's not finding it when you try to install the driver.

When i select FN+F7 i get a message saying "switchable graphics key press detected. Choose yes to enable and no to cancel"

I select 'yes' and nothing happens.

    Any suggestions?

Did you try to re-install both video drivers as stated on this guide? Video Driver clean installation

Or did you try to install it on top of the older version?

Is there not a newer cata driver that works with switchable graphics?

I've been running with newer drivers for a while without being able to switch to IGP and I'm sick and tired of having a 1 hour'ish battery life when I'm not gaming. It seems rather absurd that dells latest drivers for the 6970 are from 8/2011..... Many of the newer games, and up and coming games, have SERIOUS issues with older drivers

Thanks for the guide -Iv tried to uninstall both drivers as the guide says - I however uninstalled both together without restarting after each uninstall.

I then try to install the AMD driver 1st and then the Intel HD driver 2nd.

The AMD will install no problem - the Intel however, states my 'system does not meet the requirements' and will not allow me to progress :/

Also each time i restart windows driver automatically installs Intel graphics family driver even though i have disabled this option for windows!?? Im not sure what I am doing wrong but its frustrating :(

Try restarting after each driver is uninstalled, that way older driver versions that may be installed will show up.

You can also try this after completely uninstalling the drivers:

    1. Open the Start Menu, type “regedit” in the searchbox and press <Enter>.

    2. In the “Registry Editor” go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE

    3. Look for a folder named “AMD” or “ATI”, right-click to delete it.

    4. Restart your computer.

Driver sweeper or Driver fusion may help as well to clean up your registry.

Once all of this is done, install the AMD driver, this will enable the switchable graphics option. Once installed, restart, press [Fn]+[F7] to switch graphics, and proceed to install the Intel driver.

    Hope it helps!

I don't know if this will help but are you running any other programs while trying to switch graphics? It's only because it happened to me this morning. For me, I know that it will not allow me to switch if I have internet explorer open. I had to close it before being able to switch. Probably silly, but figured I'd throw this in.

The AMD switching graphics system is the worse thing I've ever seen.
