amd have a little ways left to go with reverse engineering optimus, as nvidia themselves haven't entirely 'turned the corner' with it yet... lol :p

Man, you guys make me want a 6970 now... Cuz I hate buying under[insert adjective here] products. Especially since this is my first gaming notebook, and having purchased it for such a good deal, I dont want to stick with yesteryear's tech. Hoping this thing will actually come to the states!

Do you think it be possible to get this laptop with the 6970 within the next 30 days? I'm wondering if it's worth waiting for this configuration or should I get an R2 with dual 5870s. I need to buy a laptop for work ;)

That price tag is really outrageous. I advocate the buying of a 920XM (~$415). When paired with ThrottleStop, you can't tell the 940 and 920 apart performance-wise.

the starting price (a relatively nice deal, especially when compared to the competition) should be same at relaunch: $1499

according to the review, we should see soon... ;)

i cant wait tbh, ive been checking the alienware webby all day for the last couple days in hope of them puttin it back up but got told it be end of the month by dell yesterday :(

The price compared to the R2 is excelent, shame no dual gfx but i think the 6970 will hold its own nicely. Also quite interested in the HDMI input, although i cant seem to find much details on that. I hope recording n stuff works on that.

Been trying to broadcast some cod4 matches n stuff but cod4 seems to be a pain with more broadcast software so was thinking to loop it to an hd capture card n broadcast that way. Wich is the other reason why i realy want this laptop. Any of u know what kind of card is taking care of the hdmi input ?

Maybe with some undervolting of GPU and CPU, we can reach 6 hours?

I'd take the 6970m any day over the 485m :p Much cheaper and slightly less power usage for like 10% loss in fps. Worthy tradeoff in my eyes.

Do you think 1080p screen and 6970m at less than $2000 will be a possibility?

So the review talked about WiDi, but the M17x site doesn't say anything about it and I chatted with a sales rep who told me that only the Insprion's come with that.

Anyone have more info about built-in WiDi on the M17x?

It's not available yet, Dell either doesn't have it ready or hasn't released it, they always string along upgrades to get the most money out of consumers possible as well as keep interest on models that may be nearing the end of their life cycle. I'd say within a month or two we should see WiDi.

still not entirely available as reviewed here by laptop mag, as the sibeam wirelesshd option is still not listed in the alienware.com configurator. however, the M17x R3 is 'featured product' on the front page (along with the M14x R1) of the wirelesshd.org site - maybe soon then...
