I got 840 pro ssd & 8x2 gb corsair vengeance ram
after installing them and re-pasting my gpu, the gpu fan stopped working and the gpu goes very hot and the fan doesn't run at all ..
tried to manually run it with hwinfo64, woked once, then made it system managed then it would never run .. not even on manual again :(

also the ram speed went down to 1333
although my original 4gb and the new 16 gb are 1600

now installed only the 16 so I can get full speed ..

but what can I do with my fan ?? how can I get a new or better fan ??

    I live in Egypt

    Hello dr.nassef,

The first thing I would do in this situation is double check the fan header to make sure it is properly seated in it's socket... Since you removed the heatsink and fan to re-paste the CPU, it stands to reason that it could be improperly connected.

ebay, recon shouldn't be more then about 20$ or euro's.

In the Owner's Lounge thread you should be able to find a manual for the m17x-R3, where you can get the part number (searches a lot easier on ebay or websites with a part number :D) which you can use to purchase one from Dell or anywhere else.

Dell Alienware M17xR3 fans » Dell Alienware M17xR3 Laptop Repair Parts

Parts people are always a good alternative if you cannot find one on ebay.

As for Ebay simply by googling the part number (PART-4K1MM) a few came back, this was the top one: Dell Alienware M17XR Fan DC280009AF0 PART **4K1MM** | eBay

Good luck. For the time being, if you have a current modded BIOS, shut off the GPU under advanced settings>PCI express>Disable. This will allow you to use your laptop on the Intergrated graphics for the time being. In the mean time, i suggest you remove HWinfo, in case it is a software related issue. Although it sounds like you have a loose connection in the connector block.

Ask parts and people, they might be able. On eBay you would need to look for a seller that does international shipping.
