    Hello forum,

I'm a proud owner of the Alienware M17x R3. It has served me well over the years. I bought mine back in 2011.
I'm about to purchase a new monitor - the BenQ XL2430T, mainly for gaming purposes.
Checking both it appears that my laptop has a 15 pins VGA connector, HDMI and mini DisplayPort

What I would like to know is the best way to hook these two together in order to get maximum performance?
I take it that HDMI would be the last option since I don't believe it would support the monitor's high refresh rate?

Are there any disadvantages using the mini DP to DP adapter? It's either that or connect it using the VGA cable. As long as I get the 144Hz refresh rate (provided my graphics card will cope and by that I mean more like twitch games not the newest AAA titles obviously).

Any info/feedback is highly appreciated people.
    Thank you in advance.

PS: My graphics card is the AMD Radeon 6970M should that be of any use.

    Thank you!
