Hello I have lurked on these forums for a while and got loads of usefull info and upgraded my laptop because of that my current spec is below:

    M17xR3
    2960xm
    Dell 680Gtx 2GB
    16gb Corsair Vengeance
    Samsing Evo 250SSD & WD750Gb storage drive
    Killer 1202 Wifi

I currently get around 6400 3dmarks in 3Dmark 11 at all stock clocks, its the only benchmark I really use
I was think realistically if i were to get a 780m and shove that in how much increase would I get and even if it was worth it? Is it a case as title said that there are not many more upgrade options left on this machine ?

    Cheers :)

    Hi there ;).

From what I see most people say that the 780m is not that much of an increase (maybe 10%-15% at stock) to warrant it over a 680m. You already know all the gotchas of a non-standard GPU so maybe you check out the 880m announced for AW yesterday - the 780 does not seem to have had much of a production run .

The 880m is saying 15% over the 780m so 25% over a 680? Who knows until it hits the forums :D

I'm sure you'll get a lot of followers if you try that!

    Hi

Thanks for the reply yes maybe a 880m option would be worth waiting for just hope it will work in the R3 :)

I read some info on it already but will need to wait till prices come down a bit :)

I wouldn't go for the 880M either. I'd wait for the 880MX or whatever the maxwell high-end mobile gpu will be called. It probably won't be released until late this year, but the performance difference from the 680m might be 2x faster.

I would just wait... Meanwhile, get a modded vBIOS and OC the GPU :D.. You'll easily reach 780M performance..

Even the 880m could not be a huge leap in performance from what you have, but it would be better just to wait.

I wouldn't upgrade, just save up for a dual GPU beast.
