You were printing a return label for your current laptop? That's too funny.

Oh, got it. I was just checking out the x7200 vs M17x article on Tomshardware. That x7200 is a beast. The article also said something about an HDMI ->IN<- port (wasn't included on the test unit) that would allow the user to play their PS3, 360, etc. through the laptop's LCD. Now that is cool. And off topic.

I got a feeling that it might be true since the user posted about the specs of M15X with 460M. And here it is.
    Lets see!

    NVIDIA GTX 480

Besides the usual 1TB and 2TB HDD options, The Aurora R3 will also be offered with the following HDD/SSD options:

    You should have scrolled down.

The Alienware M17X R3 will also feature AMD's latest and greatest mobile graphics cards, namely the all new 6870M and 6970M.
Expect some massive heatsinks to go along with these MXM graphics cards.
There will also be an NVIDIA 460M GTX option (currently codenamed N11E-GS) with 1.5GB GDDR5 and DirectX 11 support.

I hope if we get some sort of upgrade it’s not those darn 480’s. Staying clear of those things was the reason I chose the m17x over the 7200 in the first place! I’m sure the other thread already says it, but the additional heat and power issues are not ideal in a gaming laptop. I for one, hope it would be an ATI solution. If it does get an nvidia option I hope it’s something newer that uses less power and makes less heat.

Well it very unlikely to be a 480M since it needs 100w compared to the available 75w (per mxm slot) available on the M17x. From what I understand the x7200 has more power cables to provide the additional power.

The 470M used 75w, which would make it a viable option we will have to wait and see.

As for ati the desk top versions of the 6870 are a little disapointing as they perform worse than the 5870 (from benckmark I've seen: check the form regarding the 6000 serries atis), but for a mobile GPU we'll have to see how they scale it down, if they keep the 256Bit memory interface or not, so there is still a bit of hope there.
