Hey is there an option to buy the front bezel glass without the LCD? Because mine broke and I ordered an LCD which didn't come with the glass

Hmmm, the LCD should have come with the plexi glass. It's my understanding the screen is bonded to the plexi so getting a new LCD would include the the front plexi glass.

No there is not, but I'll gladly check your order and see what happened. Please email: AWSocialMedia at dell.com
Add my name, order number and service tag to the body of the email.

    Exactly

If it's bought as a screen assembly from Dell, yes, but LCDs can be found separately.

I'm afraid that you won't find the LCD housing without the LCD itself, kvothes.

Both links are broken. Take the )? of off the end of both of them

The first one lists it at 17.0'', the R3 is 17.3''

The second one, id call them and make sure it fits your computer. Not sure why they're calling it "Area." Someone can correct me if i'm wrong (which I usually am) but I thought "Area" was there first gen. I'm not too familiar with Alienware history.

looks like you have 7 days to return it, but you'll have to take a 20% restocking fee as well as shipping.

Hopefully i am wrong though. It's been known to happen.

The bezel on pchub is not for the area-51 Alienware (pre Dell), It is for the M17x (R1) & M17x R2. It won't fit the M17x R3 because it's 16:9.

Wow this thread got confusing quick.

I think the pchub link katalin was referring to was the first one, the bezel only. Not the 120hz assembly.

Also, I don't think the 6990m will run a 120hz screen. I believe only NVIDIA 580m or above will run that. You would need a 60 hz screen. See my first post with link to eBay.

    That's true, I should've been more specific.

Concerning the 6990 + the 120Hz panel combo, it won't work.

The 120hz screen is made for nVidias 3D. It's incompatible hardware. Just won't work. I don't know the specifics of it. Data lines maybe.

It's not because the 6990 can't output 120Hz but because this is how the system was built.
You can only pair the 120Hz panel with a nVidia card and only some of them are 'allowed' to have stereoscopic 3D support.

Some people on eBay are shady, but they offer buyer protection so usually it's a safe bet.

The link I provided, looks safe to me. The seller has over 500 sales with near 100% rating.

You could also call Dell, but they won't be cheap.

The screen part number you want is MGNC7. Finding the whole assembly is the tricky part.

No problem. Hopefully it works out for you.

That stinks. Just keep an eye out. You could also message them and see if they'd ship to you.

Howdy newbie. Welcome to the forums. :hi2:

The video card you have does not influence what the replacement screen is. If you have a normal 60Hz LCD screen, that is what you get to replace it. If you have the 3D 120Hz screen, then you need to find the correct bezel and plexiglass for the 3D LCD screen. If you're not sure which one you've got, you can always download HWinfo and look up the part number it gives you for your currently installed screen. eBay would be your best bet in finding a replacement bezel.
