Ok so for the past few weeks I've noticed that sometimes my sound will be really loud, like it should be, and then sometimes it will randomly be really soft, and I have to restart in order to get it to normal listening volume again.

Keep in mind this has nothing to do with actual volume control, as turning it up or down does make a difference but when its maxxed normal its very loud, whereas when its in its oddly soft state, its almost inaudible.

So tonight I started up assassins creed 2 and remembered I needed my 360 controller, so I plugged it in during the intro video and voila the sound dampened before my ears...

So I did a little testing, and it seems to simply have some weird reaction to plugging an xbox 360 controller in. I do have the driver for the controller installed from the MS website as well.

It doesnt seem to matter whether I have xpadder enabled or not, it only appears dependent on the xbox controller being plugged in, and even after unplugging the sound stays dampened so I am required to reboot.

It only does it on the laptop speakers themselves as well, my headphones sound does not dampen at all.

If anyone knows a fix please post, and for anyone wondering why the sound dampens, this might be your problem :)

Subscribed for interest, as my speakers don't seem as loud as they were on Day 1-5 of ownership.

Still most likely related to a fault with your audio jack.

Chances are the system might be forcing audio out your XBOX 360 controller as well and when it isn't detected it flips out...Not really sure.

Yes, I don't think this is the laptop issue. It has something to do with Windows.

My other laptops do the same thing, when I plug any USB device in.
