Run ThrottleStop with the log file option selected so you have a record of what is going on. Remember to turn on GPU monitoring before you start logging and exit ThrottleStop after you are finished gaming. Upload the data to www.mediafire.com or copy and paste the data to www.pastebin.com so I can have a look.

Yes I get overheating with Diablo 3 if my laptop is on a flat surface. As long as it's propped up in my coolermaster laptop stand, it runs like a champ and never goes above 64c ... Diablo is the only game I have that does this.

My M17x is always at my desk anyway, so it's not a big deal to keep it on the stand.

Welcome to the world of throttling on the 580M and the 485M. The only way to keep the notebook from throttling is to place it on an aftermarket notebook cooler as those two GPU's require good ventilation.

I wasn't having an issue with throttling at all until after patch 1.0.3. I think they changed something in the config files that is causing it.

I was having horrible throttling issues with Diablo 3, but as someone else mentioned, just place something that allows the back to be lifted (Gatorade caps seem to be a great temporary solution) and all throttling will be gone.
