Long story short: I spilled coke on my laptop. Its been repaired, but my LCD has an issue with the blue channel. Any blue on the screen kind of "flickers". I believe the problem is with my LCD, because everything is fine if I run an HDMI out to another monitor.

My laptop is still under warranty, but not against accidental damage so I don't want to send it for repairs due to my mistake. Since I believe that I'm going to have to replace the LCD, I thought it would be a good opportunity to upgrade to a 120hz panel which I had intended to buy from the start.

I know that I have a LG LP173WF1 panel now. I know that I need to upgrade to a LP173WF2 or LP173WF3 to get the 120hz version. I also know that my current connector is a 40 pin, and the connector for those two monitors is 50 pin. What I can't figure out is what cable I need to buy to get the LP173WF2 or 3 to work with my laptop.

I have the GTX 560 card, so it should support 3d and 120hz if I can get the proper cable.

Anyone know the part number on the cable I need, and any advice on how to swap the panel?

motherboard has two connectors. one for 3d 120hz and one for non 3d 60hz. you will use the one on the right (looking at the laptop with screen open). i was just in mine today swapping out the odd drive for a hdd caddy. easiest way to do it would be to try to buy an entire assembly, with all cables, lights, ect already in it and it would be a direct and quick swap.

Good luck finding an aftermarket 3d panel. I haven't seen any on Ebay for a while. I personally bought my new 1080p panel from a great reseller on ebay though, so good luck!!! :)
