I've been doing some light reading:

What I'm most curious about are the thermals on this new card and whether or not I should just sell my m18xR1 and m17xR3 for an entirely new system?
I really don't care to continue dealing with the thermal headaches the 580m is known for, and I'm eagerly awaiting an in depth analysis of the newest generation to help me decide.
I'm aware that I will lose 3D functionality, but I honestly don't use it as much as I do that 120hz refresh.[/span]
Thoughts?

As long as 3D is not important to you then there should be no problem. Just get the right ini file (or mod it youself) and you should be good. I did see some benchmarks over in the official overclocking forum...
I feel your pain on the 580m, it gave me nightmares with overheating -
