So, I'm having a rather strange problem... a technician came over the other day to fix a mobo problem, but now my wifi card doesn't work. Drivers are installed, antennas are connected, wifi is enabled with the FN/media keys/bios, but it can't find any networks, as if the antennas didn't even exist...

Any ideas besides calling Dell back?

Hello Hybrys, have you tried to reseat the components?
Run could also try to run AlienAutopsy see if you can get an error code.
Under Device Manager try to untick 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'; you will find it on the wireless properties on the power management tab.

I've reseated the component, and that's not the issue. It does show up as working in the device manager. Power Savings is also unallowed for the device.

AlienAutopsy needs a connection to install, so... =P (Hooking up physically isn't an option.)

I'm convinced the technician did something crazy to this though, since I'm having a million other issues now. No integrated graphics, the heatsink for the video card isn't properly attached (2/4 screws, and I'm pretty sure he took the other two.), sometimes I get 8 beeps when starting up... I'm trying to get the supervisor on my case to just give me a replacement or credit towards another AW product.

another case of "...it was working until the vanilla tech they sent over fixed my laptop, and busted everything else"

I've seen this one too many times to be confortable with ever having a tech do anything on my laptop.

Talk to that manager and get this resolved...sorry that you are going through this hassle :(

Yeah, I don't want to waste more time with 'fixing' to break more things, but I keep getting run around by this supervisor. He was supposed to call me... Well, each day since Saturday. And I've been calling and emailing to remind him.

I just called again to see if I could get one of the tech support people to help me diagnose purely the integrated graphics issue. The lady had no idea what I meant, and is now sending me to a drivers specialist who has to call me back... And probably never will.

HA, I fixed it myself! Weirdest thing, I just got a new mobo and LCD installed because of an 8 beeps issue. I just flashed to the A10 modded bios, and went to see what mode my graphics was on. It was on PEG instead of SG! How could that even happen direct out of factory?

Seems to have fixed my Wifi problem as well. The previous owner must've flashed to modded A08, and Dell flashed it to A09 (the bios it came with) when they 'refurbished' it.

    Too weird...
