Hi guys I have been trying to update my M17x R3 with an nvidia 680m gpu (win 7) to the latest drivers but it keeps failing.
The last drivers I have been able to successfully install has been the nvidia 344.60 driver which the great J95 posted in the M17xR3 680m capatibility forum thread.
I understand everyone is directed to the laotops2go website since for their drivers and .inf files but since then I haven't been able to get any to work with my gpu.
I tried downloading the latest driver 358.91 which I have been assured works with win 7 and 680m and installed the attached .inf file into the display.driver folder. Problem is it fails or when it comes to switching over doesn't do so and the laptop reverts to the integrated graphics driver instead.
I then have to go back to the 344.60 drivers which switch back easily.
I tried a slighly earlier card the 358.50 to see if that works but still no joy.
Any ideas about why this happens after the 344.60 update?
I've been trying to play Fallout 4 but it doesn't respond. I have given full admin permission to the fallout exe files aswell as steam.
I also checked that the files cache was complete and steam assures me all the files are correct for the game. However it still doesn't respond. I was hoping to update to the best drivers as this may be the issue. I get the initial fallout setup screen but when I launch the game its just a black screen with a blue circle in the middle.
I tried playing Metal Gear Solid 5 and Mad Max and they work fine.
Any help greatly appreciated. [IMG] [IMG]

So I got the game running in windowed mode which is ok for now until something gets sorted.
However be great to get my drivers optimised for the game. Has anybody got any ideas on what the problem is or been able to get theirs working?
If you did how exactly did you do it?
Heres my list of what I've done so far.
    Gone to laptops2go
Opened the page for the latest drivers.
    Downloaded the drivers.
Downloaded the nv_dispi.inf file (right click and choose save a copy) to desktop.
    Then opened downloads folder.
Double click the installer and wait for it all to unpack.
Take the folder and put it in c:/nvidia/displaydrivers/
Take the nv_dispi.inf file and put it in the specific display drivers folder for that driver. (C:/nvidia/displaydrivers/358.91_win8x64/display.driver)
I the go to the setup exe (still in the specific driver folder) and right click and choose run as administrator.
I then let it run, choose express installation and then it usually fails or installs fully but doesn't actually run.
The computer goes to the integrated vga graphics and nvidia experience says "no nvidia graphic found".

Have also done a custom installation targeting only the driver itself and it installs fine but when I restart the driver does not kick in.
Under hardware it says cannot load driver.

I also tried to download an earlier graphics driver 385.50 but that didn't work either, in fact that crashed my laptop and had to run a repair program
