my next problem! (well, not really a problem, but it makes me wonder if something is up...).

Whenever I restart my computer from in Windows, everything will go smoothly (i.e, no force shut downs, logs off properly, etc...)...

then my computer will show a black screen for what seems like, at times, 15-20 seconds before the Alienware logo shows up and actually reboots. No issues with actual boot.

i'm thinking this may have something to do with my harddrives, etc...there have been times where when restarting, i'd hear either a beep or click (few times), quite hard to describe exactly what kind of noise it is...

Running Intel 520/OEM Seagate in AHCI. Windows installation on SSD, everything else stored on the seagate. Windows from Dell, not upgraded.

    any leads guys?

    (btw, this forum is awesome).

You can always run diagnostics to check if your hard drives are working correctly.

Luis, I ran diagnostics last night, and both harddrives are ok with no issues.

Have you checked your boot order?

Could be that the OS HDD is set to boot 2nd or 3rd.

I've experienced this before, but for only about 5 seconds or so and not consistently. It never really bothered be too much to look into unfortunately. I used a Crucial M4 SSD.

Boot order is perfect, runs off the SSD and boots quickly.
Tried also unplugging my mouse before restarting (as per another post), and didnt make a difference..

maybe i shouldnt care so much. LOL
