So I'm trying to install the Win8 preview and found that the A08 BIOS does not allow to boot from the USB.

    Anyone else having this issue?

I have no trouble booting my R3 from a USB memory stick containing the Windows 7 installation package or a USB DOS stick used to flash video or system bios and/or for general utility use. I have only used the USB 2.0 ports with USB 2.0 memory sticks so far because that's all I have, so don't know about booting through the USB 3.0 ports.

my external hd (a seagate 2tb usb3) notes that it can only do recovery through usb2, not a usb3 port which i thought was weird/interesting.... it could be that usb3 ports dont work till you're in a supported OS and aren't bootable.

Were you trying in a usb3 port?

Sorry guys, I'm trying to boot up from the SD Card. I understand you would have to start from the USB for this to work.

damn, then something's not configured correctly :s. The SD card work fine on another computer. The M17x just ignores it.

I dont think the m17x can boot from an sd card. It certainly does boot from usb providing you use the usb 2.0 ports though.

Check your bios, reading the manual, you should be able to enable the emulate USB option to allow such actions. The manual said nothing about SD cards though good luck.
