    M17x R3: Possible to install 3 HDD?

    Is it possible to install 3 Hard drives into an R3? I understand that it already has 2 HDD bays, but can a HDD be installed in replacement of the optical drive?

    3 hdd's is def possible, the optical drive is connected via sata so a hdd will work in that spot as well. I'm not sure is the r3 uses a 12.7mm optical drive or a 9.5mm drive tho if it uses a 12.7mm drive you can fit 3 platter 1tb drives and soon to be 3 platter 1.5tb drives if its 9.5mm you can fit a 750gb 2 platter drive or a soon to be 2 platter 1tb drive

    The 3 platter 1,5Tb alone is 14,8mm in height.

    katalin the 3 platter drives are 12.7mm in height the 3 platter 1tb drive is 12.7mm i believe hitachi or samsung just came out with a 500GB single platter slim drive like 7.2mm that will eventually become a 1tb 2 platter drive at 9.5mm like all other 2 platter drives the largest which is 750GB right now. Then when the 3 platter version of that drive comes out it will be 12.7mm like the current 1tb 3 platter drive is but will be 500 x 3 1.5gb
