Put an Intel X-25 SSD drive in, AHCI in bios, fresh install of Win07. No strange or missing devices in device manager. Chipset drivers installed. 460m with non-3d screen.

When I am playing WoW the game hangs, but the program doesn't crash. I can Ctl-Alt-Del and then hit escape and it is as if nothing happened.

I assumed this was a problem with Optimus switching between discrete and integrated graphics. So I went within the control panel and chose discrete graphics as the preferred card for WoW. Problem is still there.

I have tried the 266.05 (think its .05) drivers shipped on the installation disc, as well as 277.31 from laptopvideo2go. Same problem with both. No strange events within event viewer.

Sometimes I can go 10 minutes without an issue. Sometimes I have back to back freezes within 10 seconds of another one. I haven't loaded up anything to watch temps. I will do that next, but I am curious to know whether anyone else has seen this before. Sounds like a driver issue, or a throttling issue. Anyone have any guesses?

My board revision is 09, so I don't believe I have the defective variety.

From experience, if you were throttling the game would just drop to a low frame rate, then go back up. The complete hang you're describing is a whole other problem. When this happens, does your HDD activity indicator light go crazy? It seems like some other resource is taking precedence over WoW. Everything is set to maximum performance under Windows power options and your Nvidia control panel?

Set windows to max performance. CHecked the nvidia control panel and that is set to prefer the 460m. No dice. Still pauses until i ctrl-alt-del. The weird thing is that my mouse goes to the dead center of the screen when it happens.
I run my game in windowed mode too... Not sure if that affects anything.
