I searched around, but didn't see anyone having any real sound problems. Ever since I've had my R4, the volume was pretty low, going from Windows 7 to 8. I'm running the latest Recon3Di software/drivers.

Any tweaks or settings you guys recommend? Different software? Particular version you like? It's crystal clear and everything, but I have a feeling these Klipsch speakers have much more potential.

I came from an XPS17 L702x and that thing had amazing volume, great bass (subwoofer), but wasn't quite as crystal clear. MUCH louder though.

    Thanks!

You will never get to the level on sound on 17x/15x, they are pretty much best sounding laptops.

I personally feel m17xr4 lacks in terms of volume, the sound is just not loud enough.

Select Loud option under your sound blaster.

...Looks like you need to get external speakers, play and watch movies/games with a headset, most of the time that is what I do.

That would be a good option if they are not able to fulfill your needs.

I had the same problem on my m18x R2. I finally figured out what to do: open up the Recon 3di Control Panel and the Equalizer. I have all of the levels in a straight line, mainly because I haven't got much of a clue how to adjust them optimally. But you can up the decibel levels on them. I also believe the last setting on the right, "Level" ups the decibel levels.

Up them to your heart's content and you will get loud, loud, crystal clear sound. I'm so happy right now. Volume was pretty depressingly low before.
