Hello,
I was wondering if you could help me with the issues I've been having with my M17x r4. The specs are in my signature. It's running 14.1 stable, not overclocked. Drivers have been installed clean.
Over past 2 months I've been having Blue Screens, and random freezes-these require a hard reset. Over the past week it has gotten much worse.
I could for example be watching a video on youtube or facebook, and then start seeking when all of a sudden it just freezes and makes me restart.
If I'm opening tabs, or doing something sometimes I just get a blue screen message again. The blue screen error is
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I haven't installed anything strange, only recent things have been Msi afterburner, 3dmark and BF4 Hardline Beta. But those haven't been opened for a few days.
I did a recent 3dmark test + 3dmark11, - gpu temps and scores themselves were fine.
Another issue I have is with the build of the laptop. After the keyboard, touchpad were replaced because keys randomly stopped working, the plastic just below the spacebar flexes a lot and has seemed to have lost whatever support it had before, making a creaking noise.
The touchpad buttons have again started to dip AGAIN.
My wifi card disconnects at least 3/4 times a day. I again have the latest network driver and have always had this issue. The dell technician gave me values to change which halved the times this happened. Since I just recently switched to using wifi more often this problem is serious now. I have tried all sorts of things to fix these driver issues. I haven't had any issue with any other PC/Laptops or Mobile Devices. It just says "connection lost, or unable to connect".
Adding to the problems, the laptop makes a louder idle whirring sound than it once did, even when the fan is on the lowest setting possible.
The cpu, as mentioned before gets to 92C when rendering videos, these temps were recorded when the laptop was on my Coolermaster U3 with the fans turned up to the highest speed. If it wasn't on this I bet the temps would exceed 95C. This week when I was using OPEN CL to render with I actually got a blue screen. I previously made a thread about this.
I clean the inside of my laptop every couple or so months with compressed air.
UPDATE
So it got sent to the service centre, they replaced the GPU + CPU. This made problems worse, cpu temps were soaring high, and so were gpu temps. Even did remote access with a technician they saw this by running several tests, painfully slow process which took a lot of time. After a couple of more visits of replacing stuff (pretty much everything), laptop is left with no wifi, bluescreens, freezing up frequently, GPU and CPU temps are still crazy high.
I think the parts that are replaced were all faulty, since they use refurbished and not original parts. If only they started using new parts.
Moving on.
Dell agreed to replace the laptop. How long does it take them to send me an email about specs, and if I'm content with them? I will make sure they match or exceed all of mine.

Man you got a mouthful there.
All i can say is repaste for your temp problem and do a clean install of your operating system for that blue screen error. If that doesnt fix your issues then you have to call alienware support.

You temps is very hi, 95C too much. The maximum that I saw on my AW R3 85C it after 4 hours of continuous operation under load. At idle 48 - 51

Did a fresh install, on another hard drive. Hasn't solved anything.

WIFI just use the generic windows drivers do not use any killer drivers. They are most stable for me.
Temperatures wise try cleaning your fans/heatsink. Most likely something clogging it. -
Sent the laptop off to the Service Centre

Did you get the specs of the new laptop, Omen123?

Went for an Alienware 18, 4940mx, GTX880m SLI, 16GB Ram. Will have to check the temps to decide whether or not I will repaste with liquid ultra or not. I hope I can keep them below 85C max! -
