Currently running on an Alienware m17 R4 with a GTX675M, Core i7 3630QM, 8 Gig Ram. Curious has anybody upgraded to a 780m here, and if so, how compatible with the R4 is it?

    Cheers!

I have a m17x r4 for work and I put in a MSI 780m. Worked perfect and I came from a dell 680m. Not sure if the heatsink on the 675m is different than the 680/780m

Cheers for the reply. Is there any handy way I could check (online or by other means) that the heatsinks are the same?

The 680 and 780 have the same layout so the 580/675 to 680 would be the same question.

I believe the HS will fit but be slightly different. It may compromise cooling a little but you wouldn't be the first to do it around here.
