    Hi all,

    Last year I bought my M17x R4 with the default Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 on board.
The connection was stable but my speed wasnt, I only got about 30mbs down and 6 mbs up. (I have a 120 / 6 internet line).

I decided to get the Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 to speed things up and indeed they did, now I got 114 / 6, so almost my theoretically speed.
But I had 1 issue : every 40-60 seconds I got lagspikes, when i pinged my local router i got 3-4 pings of 100+ ms every 40-60 seconds.
I got this on Windows 8 and 8.1.
To rule out driver problems I booted up Linux precise puppy and had exactly the same issue so I thought it was faulty hardware and bought the Killer™ Wireless-N 1103.

Now with this card I dont have these lagpikes so I can play games but I have the same problem everybody seems to have : random disconnects, 5ghz sometimes not visible etc, I tried the default windows drivers, the last drivers from Bigfoot, but no success.

    Now I think Im gonna buy a Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 again because I hope I had a faulty one.

My router is one of the best : Asus RT-N66U and all my other devices are very stable on it.

    How should the Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 be connected because I had it like this : 1: White, 3: Grey, 2: Black.

Any help is much appreciated !!

Just a small update on my own post :

I sent back the Killer Wireless card because it gave me nothing but trouble.
I tried Atheros drivers, windows drivers, Bigfoot Killer drivers, beta,s, clean install of win7, win8, win8.1 and all gives the same issues so Im tired of searching.
I installed the intel 6300 back and switched 2 antennas (grey/black) but thats very unstable so the order should be : CH1 white, CH3 grey, CH2 black but that gives me the old lagpikes every 40-60 seconds so Im ordering a new one.

Do you guys know if there are any GOOD usb wifi adapters ? low ping is prior to fast download but if I can get both Id like to hear

    thank you

As for the wires.. I put them in the same order as the killer. White, black, Grey from left to right.

    I personally use a Cisco one (AE1000). It's amazing! Around $60 anywhere.

I upgraded my Centrino 2230 to an Intel 6250 with WiMax off of Ebay for $10. It works great and have never had any problems, maybe give that a try? I supports dual band and works well.

I also ordered the new intel 7260 AC.
I will update this post on monday/tuesday when I have tested it.

    *fingers crossed*

does anyone know if I should use the white + black cable or the white+gray table
it seems to matter because i had very bad connection with black+gray switched on my intel 6300

When I first got my Alienware M17x R4 I had ordered it with the Killer card. I replaced it once with Dell and had the same issues. They ended up sending me out an Ultimate N 6300 and since then all has been smooth (as long as Comcast is cooperating!!). It could have been a faulty 6300. You never know.

I really think the problem lies in the BIOS or the crappy motherboards Dell uses. I have been through 3 different cards and all do about the same thing.. Good luck with the new card.

This weekend I borowed my sisters usb wifi adapter.
An old Linksys WUSB100 : WUSB100 Support | Wireless Network USB Adapter

Perfect ping, no lag, no jitter, no pl, it was perfect.
How come a 20$ usb wifi adapter works much better then the internal adapters ?
