    Hi Everyone,

For some reason I cannot seem to install the latest catalyst mobility drivers for my laptop. Every time I try to install them the system stops recognising the graphics card. I then have to restore my system for it to work again.

Ive tried completely removing the drivers and installing them again and I get the same issue. The system also went through a series of blue screens recently but after following a guide to remove the drivers properly these appear to have gone.

Im currently using the 13.4 drivers and anything after those do not work and cause problems.

Has anyone else had the same issues? Or can anyone help me?

    Kind regards,
    Luke

hmmm....are you installing while using the integrated card? I can see that causing issues, in fact if I try to install AMD divers while the intel chip is active it used to send my laptop into endless blue screens as soon as Windows started up. I can't say I have had any problems lately but I always start by installing the AMD drivers while only my 7970 is on and after that I update the intel drivers from Alienwares website. Don't try to use the latest Intel Drivers, they will mess up Windows royally, use the Alienware HD4000 drivers.

As Porras has suggested make sure you try a clean install as maybe something has been left behind and is messing the system up although if your doing doing a full restore after each failed attempt there shouldn't be. I also assume when you say restore your meaning your restoring back to factory data?

As far as I can tell switchable graphics is on while im trying to install the drivers. Should i disable the other card first?

Luis, if I wanted to install the lastest AMD drivers if I follow your link and then use the 13.9 mobility drivers should it work ok? The drivers I have on currently are pretty old.

    Hi Luis,

I tried using that guide, infact ive done it about 3 times each trying a more up to date version of the ATI catalyst drivers. I cant install anything past 13.6. When I try anything more modern the card is not recognized and I have to use your guide to remove the drivers and then start again.

Whats the point in having an Alienware if you cant have the latest things? Additionally, actually trying to get support for this problem where you arent asked to repeat things you have already tried over and over again is totally frustrating.
