    Hello all,

So i overclocked my 7970m to 950/1400 and i run games on it fine. But after about 2 hrs of playing a game (today it was max payne 3 and witcher 2) my screen will go black and the laptop freezes and i have to do a hard restart. Is this because of my overclock? my temps stay quite good (under 70C) I thought my clocks were stable since im able to game for 2 hrs, so im still not sure if it is the overclock or something else that is causing this random black screen freeze.

Hey axedatta, does this happen repeatedly now? How long does it take for it to happen? It could be because of the overclock so try checking how everything works on base clocks.

Some cards are just not as good/durable/overclockable as others... some go higher and some go lower, could just be a case of a weaker card you have..

Temps aren't the only indicator that your OC is too high. This sounds like a textbook case of too much OC. Just down it a little and I bet the freezes go away.
